Service-learning Opportunities

UW Pipeline students have helped teach our school field trips, as well as nature classes and walks for the past 3 years.

Magnuson Nature Programs is dedicated to bringing quality nature education to children, adults, and families through hands-on, experiential learning in the diverse natural areas, ecosystems, and cultivated gardens inside Magnuson Park.  That includes providing service-learning volunteers with a quality educational experience while they give their time and energy to help sustain our programs!

Middle and high school students, college and university students, scout troops, campfire groups, and others can choose to assist with a variety of service-learning opportunities:

  • If you are in an education-related degree program and/or interested in volunteering for multiple field trips, camps, nature walks, or nature classes, please send an email to

  •  To volunteer for stewardship in the Magnuson Children’s Garden & P-Patch, visit the Children’s Garden stewardship calendar to see which of the already-scheduled events fits your availability, then send an email to
